EARTHLY ANGELS DONATES
TO CAMP EMERGECampEmerge, a camp for families touched by Autism, created by ABOARD(local autism support group), was the latest recipient of a $2,000 grant from the Earthly Angels Autism Fund of the Luzerne Foundation. CampEmerge is run by volunteer parents that seek to provide a supportive camp experience for families who have a child with PDD(Pervasive Developmental Disorder). PDD include Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, or a related disorder.
CampEmerge focuses on the strengths of individuals and families and provides the opportunity to simply "be a family" for a weekend, without fear of judgement or pressure to explain differences, and where every effort is met with praise and celebration.
CampEmerge is now in its fifth year and the demand for their services continues to grow. CampEmerge is on track to serve over 40 families this summer. Together, including volunteers, over 200 people will participate in CampEmerge 2004. To learn more about CampEmerge, visit their website at http://www.geocities.com/macko420
